DETAILED ITINERARY FOR LHABHA TARUM TSACHU TREK
Day 01: Arrive at Bagdogra Airport. Meet our guide and drive to Gangtok (124 km/4 hours). Overnight Hotel (B/B only).
Day 02: Gangtok sight-seeing. Overnight Hotel (B/B only).
We will drive you to Rumtek Monastery (23 km from Gangtok). This is the biggest monastery, housing a school for the monks and the Dharma Chakra Center in Sikkim. This monastery was built in 1969 and is a replica of the same monastery in Tsurpu, Tibet. Also visit the Institute of Tibetology, the only museum and institute in India dedicated to Tibetan language, culture, and Buddhist religion. This museum houses some very old Tibetan manuscripts and Thanka paintings, and in the evening, take a stroll along MG Road in Gangtok.
Day 03: After breakfast, drive Gangtok to Lachung (2400 m/125 km/5 hours). Overnight Homestay with Dinner.
This is a long drive to Lachung in North Sikkim, and the drive is scenic, with water falls and mountain views all the way to Lachung, our destination for the day.
Day 04: Trek Lachung to Yumthang (3600 m/24 km/5-6 hours). Overnight Tents.
The trek from Lachung to Yumthang is on a paved road, but the trek to Yumthang Valley is interesting in the sense that the path leading to Yumthang passes through pine and rhododendron forests surrounded by snow-clad mountains, and the environment is very serene with no pollution. One can even drive to Yumthang and start the trek the same day. This will reduce the trek by a day.
Day 05: Trek Yumthang to Tsethang (3800 m/12 km/4 hours). Overnight Tents.
The trek starts gently for about an hour, and then there is a steep climb of about 2 hours until you reach the top. Amazing views of Langkyong Khang and Dongkyari, overlooking the Tibetan Plateau, are visible from the top.
Day 06: Trek Tsethang to Snowlion Cave Camp (3000 m/12 km/4 hours). Overnight Tents.
The Trail to Snowlion Cave Camp is the most beautiful on this entire trek, as the Trekking Trail passes through Rhododendron Forest and Primula meadows until the trail reaches the top of Lhaba Pass (4200m). The view of the mountain range and the glaciers down below from Lhaba Pass is really mesmerizing. Overnight Tents.
Day 07: Trek Snowlion Cave Camp to Tarum Hotspring (2600 m/14 km/4 hours). Overnight Tents.
The trail to Tarum Hotspring is mostly downhill through Silver Fur, Magnolia, and Rhododendron Forests. Tarum Hot Spring is one of the most famous hot springs in Sikkim, and here is where we will set up camp for the night. Take a dip in the hot spring to relax your muscles after four days of trekking. Overnight Tents.
Day 08: Trek Tarum to Tarum Bridge (2600 m/13 km/4 hours). End of the trek. Drive to Gangtok. Overnight Hotel(B/B).
