The Sandakphu Trek is four to five days of adventure with a lifetime of experience, reaching a maximum altitude of 3636 m at Sandakphu, right in front of the highest mountain range in the world. The best short trek in Darjeeling that is approximately 56 km from Manebhanjyang to Rimbik.

Trek Grade

Sandakphu Trek is a moderate-to-easy hike in Darjeeling and is relatively easy for seasoned hikers. Trekkers carry only their day packs with their personal items in them and walk at their own pace. The main baggage will be carried by the porter.

Sandakphu Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Bagdogra Airport. Drive to Darjeeling. Overnight Hotel (B/B only).

Day 2: Darjeeling sight-seeing.

Day 3: Drive to the Indo-Nepal Border Town of Maney Bhanjyang (2134 m/25 km/1 hour). Trek to Tongloo. (13Km). Overnight Home Stay or Trekkers Hut.

  • Maney Bhanjyang (2134m) to Chitre (2800m)-2 km
  • Chitre-Meghma (2900m) 6 Km
  • Meghma to Tongloo: 3070 m: 3 Km

Day 4: Trek Tongloo to Sandakphu. Overnight Home Stay/Trekkers Hut.

  • Tongloo to Tumling: 1 Km
  • Tumling to Gairi Bas: 8 Km
  • Gairibas to Kayatta: 3 Km
  • Kayatta to Kalipokhri: 4 Km
  • Kalipokhri to to Sandakphu: 6 Km

Day 5: Early in the morning, take a short hike (10 minutes) to the view point for views of the Everest and the Kanchenjunga Range. Return back to the lodge for breakfast. Overnight Homestay or Trekkers Hut

Day 6: Trek from Sandakphu to Gurdum (10 km). Overnight home stay.

Day 7: Trek to Rimbik( 12 km). Drive to Darjeeling. Overnight Hotel (B/B only).

Day 8: Drive to Bagdogra Airport for Final Departure. End of the Sandakphu Trek and Tour of Package in Darjeeling.
